Participative Photography
Photovoice
In 2015 I created and directed “Puc Fer un Milió de Coses”, a participatory photography project in which 13 adults with Limited Intelligence (IL) participated during 10 months.
Every participant created his ow artist book with their chosen title using the traditional Japanese binding technique.
They also held a collective exhibition at the headquarters of the district of Gràcia, near the facilities of the Acidh.
MODULE I
WHO AM I?
A four-session self-portrait workshop that provided a first introduction to a range of photographic techniques. We created a comfortable and trusting environment in which each participant could freely explore their intimacy and reconstruct their own identity.
Led by Maite Caramés
MODULE II
WHAT IS MY LIFE?
A workshop focused on the creation of a personal diary, complemented by guided visits to photography exhibitions. Participants acquired basic knowledge of photographic technique and learned to develop their own visual language.
They approached their everyday surroundings with a renewed perspective and developed a coherent body of work connected to their personal concerns—each participant following their own chosen path.
Guided visits with artists to exhibitions at institutions such as Fundació Foto Colectania and Barcelona Visions helped participants better understand the photographic medium and the work of other artists, while also opening new opportunities for social engagement within the cultural sphere.
Led by Héctor Mediavilla
MODULE III
WHO IS THE OTHER?
A workshop based on photographic outings to create portraits of people from the neighbourhood and participants’ immediate surroundings. This process helped foster a deeper understanding of—and a stronger connection with—their local environment.
Led by Héctor Mediavilla
MODULE IV
LOGBOOK
A workshop in traditional Japanese bookbinding and visual expression in which participants learned the basic principles of this binding technique while exploring creative possibilities through different materials and formats. In doing so, they developed both their psychomotor and creative skills.
Using the material collected and edited together with the artists, each participant produced an artist’s notebook presenting their final body of work.
