Participative Photography

(Photovoice)

In these projects, based on experiential learning by the participants, we support the development of personal and collective creativity as a tool to make visible the reality of these people, develop their confidence, self-esteem and social participation and also to reflect on their reality and the society.

It also favours healthy human relationships, a new exchange with the environment and the development of new skills.

These individual benefits can led to a larger social change.

Personal Photography workshops

Since 2004 I have been leading photography workshops in different parts of the world, including Barcelona (Spain), Paraty (Brazil), Maputo (Mozambique) and Brazzaville (Congo). These workshops are conceived as spaces where participants are encouraged to trust their own voice and develop personal photographic projects based on their interests and intuition.

While many workshops focus on visual storytelling and the development of photographic series, in recent years my practice has also expanded towards mixed-media approaches to photography, especially through working with personal images and memory.

Returning to photographs from our past and intervening in them can open new ways of reflecting on our own stories and on how images participate in the construction of our identity.

In these workshops, the emphasis is placed on process and personal discovery. My role is to accompany each participant in finding their own direction and confidence in their way of expressing themselves. The work often concludes with a small exhibition where these individual explorations can be shared in a collective space.
